After handling business against the Marist Red Foxes and Ole Miss Rebels during the 2026 Lubbock Regional, the No. 11 national seed Texas Tech Red Raiders are moving on and traveling to face off against the No. 6 Florida Gators for a Super Regional in Gainesville.
With the Red Raiders getting set to face the Gators in Gainesville, Texas Tech head coach Gerry Glasco has a heaping of praise for the way Florida plays and for the atmosphere that’s generated at Florida softball games.
Plus, it also sounds like Glasco and the Red Raiders are just simply thrilled to keep this season rolling along.
“We’re super excited to get to play in another Super Regional,” Glasco said during a recent press conference. “We’re excited about getting to go to the University of Florida in Gainesville. It’s always a tremendous venue, it’s a beautiful facility, tremendous fan base.”

But that wasn’t the only sort of respect that Glasco paid towards the Gators. Texas Tech’s head coach had more to say on the matter.
“Extremely well coached, tremendous defensive team every year,” Glasco noted. “Very experienced coaching staff, it’s a tough matchup for anybody to go into Florida.”
And this year, that’s certainly the case.
The Gators are 51-10 overall and 29-3 when playing in Gainesville this season. It’s just not an easy place for visiting teams to go into and get a victory. And Glasco would know.
“I got to do that a few times at the University of Georgia and Texas A&M,” Glasco continued. “And even Louisiana. We played a three-game series there with Louisiana in 2020. So, a lot of fun. Always, always a great atmosphere at Florida.”
For those that are curious, that 2020 series between the Gators and Glasco’s Ragin Cajuns? Florida claimed game one and then lost games two and three to Louisiana.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Red Raiders fare in this matchup. Are they able to get back to the Women’s College World Series once again? Or will Florida cause problems for Texas Tech in this Super Regional matchup?
