The college softball regular season is just about over and that means the Texas Tech Red Raiders are in a great spot right now. At the top of the Big 12 softball standings, there’s a bit of a gap between the Texas Tech softball team and a jumbled middle tier.

Right now, even though there are games to be played, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have enough of a lead to really feel great about their chances of winning the conference crown this season. At the moment, Texas Tech is 16-2 in Big 12 play and the Red Raiders are holding on to a four-game cushion at the top of the standings.

Texas Tech is running away with the Big 12 title as the Red Raiders have a solid lead over the rest of the conference as time runs out

Here’s what the Big 12 standings look like right now:

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders - 44-4 overall, 16-2 Big 12
  • Arizona Wildcats - 31-13 overall, 12-6 Big 12
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls - 31-12 overall, 11-7 Big 12
  • Kansas Jayhawks - 30-15 overall, 11-7 Big 12
  • UCF Knights - 35-12-1 overall, 12-8-1 Big 12
  • Baylor Bears - 27-20 overall, 9-9 Big 12
  • Arizona State Sun Devils - 35-13 overall, 8-10 Big 12
  • Iowa State Cyclones - 27-19 overall, 7-11 Big 12
  • Utah Utes - 30-17-1 overall, 6-11-1 Big 12
  • BYU Cougars - 17-28 overall, 6-12 Big 12
  • Houston Cougars - 20-28 overall, 3-18 Big 12

The Red Raiders have been great all throughout the season and it really doesn’t matter where Texas Tech plays. They only have two conference losses throughout this season and they’re owning an .889 winning percentage.

At this point in the season, that’s really impressive stuff. Texas Tech isn’t technically out of striking distance from the logjam behind them, but the Red Raiders have been so consistently impressive, that’s a solid four-game lead over the Wildcats.
