It looks like the Texas Tech football team still has the Big 12’s top total offense. All throughout the season, we've seen the Red Raiders rush up and down the field, put points on the board, and scorch opposing defenses.
The biggest exception to that is that road trip to face the Arizona State Sun Devils. That game wasn’t much fun.
But outside of that? Well, it’s more than clear that Joey McGuire made one heck of an offensive coordinator hire in Mack Leftwich. His version of the veer-and-shoot system has worked so well for the Red Raiders this year.
Big 12 stats, Week 10: Texas Tech Red Raiders still boast the best total offense in the Big 12 ahead of Kansas State matchup
Here’s where things stand in the Big 12 as Texas Tech preps for a trip to Manhattan, Kansas:
- Texas Tech Red Raiders - 499.4 yards per game
- Utah Utes - 476.9 yards per game
- Baylor Bears - 458.6 yards per game
- UCF Knights - 445.1 yards per game
- Cincinnati Bearcats - 437.6 yards per game
- BYU Cougars - 433.4 yards per game
- TCU Horned Frogs - 425.5 yards per game
- Iowa State Cyclones - 417.1 yards per game
- Arizona Wildcats - 416.3 yards per game
- Arizona State Sun Devils - 401.9 yards per game
- Kansas Jayhawks - 396.9 yards per game
- Houston Cougars - 381.3 yards per game
- Kansas State Wildcats - 367.1 yards per game
- West Virginia Mountaineers - 352.6 yards per game
- Colorado Buffaloes - 333.6 yards per game
- Oklahoma State Cowboys - 295.4 yards per game
The Red Raiders have held a pretty solid lead at the top of this stat ranking for just about the entirety of the season up to this point and I really don’t see it changing any time soon.
Texas Tech’s offense hasn’t been quite as impressive as of late due to some injury issues at quarterback, but Mack Leftwich still seems capable of drawing up a pretty impressive offensive scheme, even if Texas Tech needs to turn to its third string quarterback in Mitch Griffis.
