As the Texas Tech Red Raiders get set to go to Manhattan, Kansas to meet up with Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats, we have to talk about how the Red Raiders still boast the best scoring offense in the Big 12.
Texas Tech’s offense has seen a few rough moments in the past few weeks and the Red Raiders haven’t been perfect on offense all throughout the season. As the Red Raiders have gotten used to Mack Leftwich’s veer-and-shoot system, we’ve seen Texas Tech have to navigate some tricky injuries here and there (most notably to two of the Red Raiders’ quarterbacks).
Still, as we enter Week 10 and Texas Tech continues to get prepared to face off against a surging Kansas State team that is rapidly improving, the Red Raiders still have the best scoring offense in the Big 12. And that’s something to be proud of.
Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders still hold the best overall scoring offense in the Big 12 entering Week 10
The Red Raiders are averaging 43.6 points per game ahead of their Week 10 trip to the Little Apple to meet up with Kansas State. And that is absolutely a really solid point total to have at this point in the season.
Here’s how the Big 12 stacks up in terms of scoring offenses ahead of this weekend’s slate of games:
- Texas Tech Red Raiders - 43.6 points per game
- Utah Utes - 38.9 points per game
- Cincinnati Bearcats - 38.3 points per game
- BYU Cougars - 36.3 points per game
- TCU Horned Frogs - 34.6 points per game
- Baylor Bears - 34.3 points per game
- Arizona Wildcats - 31.6 points per game
- Kansas State Wildcats - 31 points per game
- UCF Knights - 30.7 points per game
- Kansas Jayhawks - 30.5 points per game
- Iowa State Cyclones - 29 points per game
- Houston Cougars - 28.8 points per game
- Arizona State Sun Devils - 24.8 points per game
- Colorado Buffaloes - 22.6 points per game
- West Virginia Mountaineers - 20.5 points per game
- Oklahoma State Cowboys - 14.5 points per game
It’s pretty remarkable seeing the drastic difference between where the Red Raiders are at the top of this metric amongst their peers in the Big 12 and where Oklahoma State is. That’s astonishing. A huge difference. And it’s not like Texas Tech has been firing on all cylinders lately. Just imagine how big of a difference that would be if the Red Raiders weren’t navigating quarterback injuries.
