It doesn’t yet fully matter that the Texas Tech Lady Raiders women’s basketball team has lost three of its last four games. To be completely frank, Texas Tech isn’t doomed. At least not yet. There’s still a shot that this Texas Tech team can get things back on track and make a run for the Big 12 title as we move down the stretch of the season.

And to be completely honest, right now, as we look at the way the Lady Raiders are placed in the current Big 12 women’s basketball standings, Texas Tech isn’t that far off from the conference leaders. At 20-3 overall and 7-3 in Big 12 play, the Lady Raiders have a shot as long as they start getting some wins in a hurry.

And that includes getting a Sunday afternoon win over the team that is tied for the top spot in the conference: the TCU Horned Frogs.

Probably easier said than done.

Big 12 women’s basketball standings update: Texas Tech still in the hunt as the Lady Raiders prepare for the TCU Horned Frogs

Here’s what the Big 12 women’s basketball standings look like for Texas Tech and the rest of the conference as the Lady Raiders get set to face the TCU Horned Frogs on Sunday:

  • TCU Horned Frogs (20-2 overall, 8-1 Big 12)
  • Baylor Bears (19-3 overall, 8-1 Big 12)
  • Texas Tech Lady Raiders (20-3 overall, 7-3 Big 12)
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (17-5 overall, 7-3 Big 12)
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls (17-5 overall, 6-3 Big 12)
  • Utah Utes (15-6 overall, 6-3 Big 12)
  • Arizona State Sun Devils (18-4 overall, 4-5 Big 12)
  • Colorado Buffaloes (14-7 overall, 5-4 Big 12)
  • Iowa State Cyclones (17-5 overall, 5-5 Big 12)
  • BYU Cougars (15-6 overall, 4-5 Big 12)
  • Kansas State Wildcats 11-11 overall, 4-5 Big 12)
  • Cincinnati Bearcats (8-13 overall, 3-6 Big12)
  • Kansas Jayhawks (13-9 overall, 3-7 Big 12)
  • UCF Knights (10-10 overall, 2-7 Big 12)
  • Arizona Wildcats (10-10 overall, 1-8 Big 12)
  • Houston Cougars (6-14 overall, 0-9 Big 12)

Texas Tech has seen a few disappointing moments over the past couple weeks, but the Lady Raiders are still off to one of the best starts in program history. And if Texas Tech could find a way to get a win against the Horned Frogs, then we’re talking about the Lady Raiders being within just one game of TCU.

The race is still tight and there are a ton of games to be played still. The Lady Raiders are in striking distance, but they’ll need to start striking sooner rather than later.
