There’s a ton of talent in Lubbock, Texas right now. While the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ success on the recruiting trail and also in the transfer portal has been a huge point of discussion when it comes to college football, it’s also true for just about every single other sport that Texas Tech competes in.
And that certainly includes college softball, where the Red Raiders happen to boast one of the most talented teams in the Big 12 (and also the country) entering the 2026 Texas Tech softball season.
The Red Raiders are leading the way in the Big 12 right now in so many ways, but also in the way that the Texas Tech softball team has far more players to get selected for the 2026 preseason All-Big 12 team than any other team in the conference.
It's not particularly close. The Red Raiders got seven players on the list. The next closest team? Well, it was a four-way tie between the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, BYU Cougars, and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls who each had two players to make the preseason list.
That seems good, if you ask me.
Texas Tech softball leads the way with the All-Big 12 selections as 7 Red Raiders earn the preseason honor entering 2026 season
Here’s what the full preseason all-conference team looks like for the Big 12 heading into the 2026 college softball season:
- Regan Shockey - Arizona
- Sydney Stewart - Arizona
- Kenzie Brown - Arizona State
- Tanya Windle - Arizona State
- Brooklyn Carter - Baylor
- Ilove’a Brittingham - BYU
- Lily Owens - BYU
- Isabella Vega - UCF
- Jessie Clemons - Iowa State
- Rosie Davis - Oklahoma State
- Ruby Meylan - Oklahoma State
- Lauren Allred - Texas Tech
- Jasmyn Burns - Texas Tech
- NiJaree Canady - Texas Tech
- Mihyia Davis - Texas Tech
- Alana Johnson - Texas Tech
- Taylor Pannell - Texas Tech
- Kaitlyn Terry - Texas Tech
There are a grand total of 18 players on that list. I think it’s a pretty good thing to see that Glasco’s Red Raiders make up over one-third of it. I mean, there is talent all over the field for the Texas Tech softball team and this is just even further confirmation that there are legitimately lofty expectations for the Red Raiders this year.
But it sure seems like this Texas Tech team is capable of accomplishing quite a bit. If you’ve got that much All-Big 12 talent on your roster, it seems likely that your team is going to go pretty far.
