After going out and getting a dozen wins and a Big 12 championship for the first time ever, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are ending the 2025 college football season having earned a spot in the top 10 of the final college football rankings.

It feels like an understatement to say that that’s a good thing.

The Red Raiders may not have ended the season on a high note, but this program is clearly better than it’s been in quite some time and we got to witness that all throughout the season. Now, in the final Coaches Poll top 25 college football rankings of the 2025-2026 college football season, we’re seeing the Red Raiders listed among the best in the country.

Here’s how things shook out for Texas Tech (and the rest of the country) in the final Coaches Poll of the 2025-2026 college football season:

  • Indiana Hoosiers
  • Miami Hurricanes
  • Ole Miss Rebels
  • Oregon Ducks
  • Georgia Bulldogs
  • Ohio State Buckeyes
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders
  • Texas A&M Aggies
  • Alabama Crimson Tide
  • Oklahoma Sooners
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  • BYU Cougars
  • Texas Longhorns
  • Utah Utes
  • Vanderbilt Commodores
  • Virginia Cavaliers
  • Iowa Hawkeyes
  • Tulane Green Wave
  • Houston Cougars
  • James Madison Dukes
  • USC Trojans
  • Michigan Wolverines
  • Navy Midshipmen
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  • Illinois Fighting Illini

That’s pretty good company for McGuire and the Red Raiders to keep. Now the goal for the Texas Tech football program should be to continue to compete amongst the best teams in the country. Continue elevating the program and prove that the Red Raiders belong in the national title discussion on an annual basis.

While the regular season success was a thrill to keep up with, the Red Raiders will need to do better going forward. The way the season ended was far from being great and McGuire and Texas Tech proved that there is still work to be done.

This program has come so far so quickly and this season was fantastic, but there’s room for improvement. And as long as that improvement gets made, then Texas Tech fans will certainly be thrilled.
