After a roller coaster of a career, former Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton has a fair bit to prove. From dealing with injuries to propelling Texas Tech to the College Football Playoffs to falling short in said College Football Playoffs in a devastatingly frustrating matchup against the Oregon Ducks, Morton has seen quite a bit during his time in Lubbock.
And still, there’s a lot to prove.
Because of those lingering injury issues, Morton wasn’t always playing at the top of his potential throughout this past season and then he wasn’t able to really do what he needed to during the NFL combine.
So, pro day kind of became a little important for him as he hopes to continue his football career moving forward. And when he arrived in Lubbock, Morton explained that he is roughly 20 pounds heavier and is healthy and is looking to connect with some NFL teams.
It sounds like Morton has been able to get together with some folks, like folks representing the Dallas Cowboys.
Texas Tech’s Behren Morton apparently had dinner with the Dallas Cowboys before his pro day performance, which is cool
“It was good being back healthy,” Morton explained. “I really haven’t been able to do much leading up to this. At the combine, my leg was still banged up, so I didn’t get to test there.”
On top of being a bit healthier since the end of the season, during his press conference after his pro day performance, Morton mentioned that he managed to gain about 20 pounds since the end of the season.
“I put on about 20 pounds since the season, playing at like 200,” Morton said. “I’m sitting at 220 now.”
And as a result, apparently NFL teams would like to chat with Morton. So far, Morton has met with nearly all 32 NFL teams, he’s had 15 formal interviews, and then he’s connected with roughly 10 teams (especially for those teams that are looking for a backup quarterback.”
