The Big 12 is a pretty chaotic conference. That’s one of my favorite things about it. There’s a ton of parity, there’s a fair bit of talent all over the place, and there are some pretty great offenses spread throughout. And that could set things up nicely for the Texas Tech Red Raiders this coming season.

Right now, Texas Tech has one of the more manageable 2025 college football schedules in the Big 12, according to Kelley Ford. And I’m here for it.

When you combine all of that with the talent that Texas Tech added via the transfer portal and the returning production that is back in Lubbock for another season, there’s a chance that Tech will be able to make a splash in the conference this year.

Or at least we can hope that that’s the case. There’s really no reason for McGuire and the Red Raiders to struggle this season.

Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders apparently have one of the easiest schedules in the Big 12 in 2025

Here’s what the rankings look like for every team in the country, according to Kelley Ford:

And here’s what things look like for the Big 12:

  1. Baylor Bears (No. 37)
  2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (No. 41)
  3. TCU Horned Frogs (No. 45)
  4. Colorado Buffaloes No. 49)
  5. Cincinnati Bearcats (No. 51)
  6. West Virginia Mountaineers (No.52)
  7. Iowa State Cyclones (No. 53)
  8. Utah Utes (No. 54)
  9. UCF Knights (No. 56)
  10. Arizona Wildcats (No. 57)
  11. Kansas Jayhawks (No. 58)
  12. Arizona State Sun Devils (No. 60)
  13. Kansas State Wildcats (No. 61)
  14. Houston Cougars (No. 62)
  15. Texas Tech Red Raiders (No. 63)
  16. BYU Cougars (No. 66)

Given the sort of parity that exists in this conference, it is absolutely fascinating to see how tight of a cluster this grouping of teams is. Also, it’s absolutely fantastic that the Red Raiders have one of the more manageable schedules in the Big 12. Here’s to hoping that McGuire and the Red Raiders are able to take full advantage of that this coming season.
