Saturday evening, the No. 15 Texas Tech Red Raiders and the No. 11 BYU Cougars are set to meet up in Lubbock in one of the biggest games of the weekend.

It’s certainly one of the most pivotal games of the Big 12’s weekend as the Cougars and the Red Raiders are among the best teams in the conference and a win for either team here has drastic implications on the Big 12 championship race this season.

And then, of course, there’s the postseason seeding implications that come from winning (or losing) a game like this one. The Red Raiders would certainly get a bit of a resume boost from finding a way to beat the Cougars on Saturday.

But as they get ready to play, are either BYU or Texas Tech missing any key contributors in this matchup? Are there any players sidelined who have made significant contributions so far this season?

Let’s take a quick look.

Texas Tech vs BYU availability update: Who won’t play in the top 15 matchup between the Red Raiders and Cougars?

Here’s the BYU players who are listed as out this weekend:

  • No. 4 Brody Koslowski
  • No. 10 KJ Perry
  • No. 12 Nate Pickens
  • No. 25 Dawson Baker
  • No. 33 Xavion Staton

And here are the Texas Tech players that will be for sure on the sidelines for this game:

  • No. 2 Jazz Henderson
  • No. 5 Josiah Moseley
  • No. 9 Luke Bamgboye
  • No. 21 LaTrell Hoover

Though that’s a lot of names that are currently listed as being unable to play in this top 15 matchup between the Red Raiders and the Cougars, none of the nine players have really made any sort of significant contribution to their teams on the stat sheets so far this season.

That’s not to say that these players aren’t important to their teams, but it is to point out that BYU and Texas Tech have both seen solid amounts of success this season even with this many players listed as out. I’m not sure we could expect to see this group drastically impact the outcome of Saturday’s game.
