It’s getting later and later in the season and player injuries just kind of keep adding up. It certainly feels like the Texas Tech football team has dealt with a bit more than its fair share of injured players this season, especially at quarterback.

Earlier in the year, Behren Morton was dinged up (it appeared to be kind of on and off) and the Red Raiders had to turn to Will Hammond to run the offense. And then, just last week, Hammond suffered a season-ending injury.

So now, Hammond will be out, the Red Raiders are probably turning the offense right back over to Morton, and they’ve really got to start hoping that he won’t get dinged up down the stretch of the season.

Texas Tech Red Raiders share availability report ahead of matchup with Kansas State in Manhattan

Here are the Texas Tech players that are out this week, according to the availability report from the Big 12:

  • Skyler Gill-Howard - DL
  • TJ West - WR
  • Will Hammond - QB
  • Roy Alexander - WR
  • Hunter Zambrano - OL
  • Bryson Jones - WR

And now, here’s the Red Raiders that are listed as probable for this game:

  • Behren Morton - QB
  • Terrance Carter Jr. - TE
  • Dontae Balfour - CB
  • Chapman Lewis - S
  • Will Jados - OL

As for the Kansas State Wildcats? Here’s who they have listed as being out of this matchup:

  • Colby McCalister - S
  • Dylan Edwards - RB
  • Justice Clemons - CB
  • George Fitzpatrick - OL
  • Joe Vickers - OL
  • Leyton Simmeron - K

This weekend, the Wildcats only have one player listed as “probably “ and that is VJ Payne.

Well, that sure is a lot of names. And it certainly is far from ideal for a team to have so many noteworthy injuries, but that is also just sometimes the nature of this game. It can be very, very challenging and taxing at this point in the season and that’s something that the Red Raiders (and also the Wildcats) will need to navigate.
