Things went pretty well for Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders over the weekend. The Texas Tech softball team, on three different occasions, was able to make very quick work of the Iowa State Cyclones. To be completely clear, when I say quick work, I mean that the Red Raiders needed just 15 innings to get a three-game sweep against the visiting Iowa State.
Texas Tech didn’t have any issues getting three run rule wins in Lubbock over the weekend and that’s something to take a bit of pride in. This Texas Tech softball team is clearly positioning itself well as the Red Raiders try to make another push for a trip to Oklahoma City and the Women’s College World Series this season.
Across the three games, the Red Raiders managed to get some truly dominant showings as they won the series with a combined score of 36-9.

On Friday, NiJaree Canady earned the win 9-1 as she allowed just two hits and struck out eight opposing batters on 76 pitches. Lagi Quiroga, Desirae Spearman, and Jackie Lis all hammered home runs to propel Texas Tech to its win in Game 1.
In Game 2, Kaitlyn Terry entered the circle and threw all five innings, securing a 10-2 win over the Cyclones thanks to her strong showing. The Red Raiders were able to claim an early 4-0 lead and just didn’t look back.
And then there’s Game 3 on Sunday, where the REd Raiders managed to get an 11-run victory thanks to a 17-6 beatdown of the Cyclones. Samantha Lincoln earned the win for the Red Raiders and she also managed to get the victory in just five innings of work.
The Red Raiders have now won nine straight games and Texas Tech has been able to showcase a ton of pitching depth, which feels different from a season ago.
