The Texas Tech Red Raiders have, by far, one of the most entertaining and explosive offenses in the Big 12. It’s dynamic, scores a ton of points, and exhausts opposing defenses in a hurry. What the Red Raiders are doing on that side of the ball has been a ton of fun to watch.
But while we’re talking about the Texas Tech offense, not enough attention gets paid to the way the Red Raiders rushing attack is working right now. We really need to talk about what Texas Tech is capable of doing on the ground.
Because it’s impressive and the Red Raiders currently have a running back who is leading the conference in rushing touchdowns scored as we enter Week 6.
Texas Tech running back Cameron Dickey has more rushing touchdowns than anyone else in the Big 12 after Week 5
Cameron Dickey is leading the way in the Big 12 right now, even though he’s part of a running back corps that is splitting carries and he’s not the focal point of the Red Raiders offense. Still, he’s doing one heck of a job and his six touchdowns are more than any other player in the Big 12 as we head to Week 6.
Here’s what things look like in the Big 12 right now:
- Cameron Dickey, Texas Tech Red Raiders - 6 touchdowns
- Bryson Washington, Baylor Bears - 5 touchdowns
- Rocco Becht, Iowa State Cyclones - 5 touchdowns
- Sam Leavitt, Arizona State Sun Devils - 5 touchdowns
- Bear Bachmeier, BYU Cougars- 4 touchdowns
- Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati Bearcats - 4 touchdowns
- Conner Weigman, Houston Cougars - 4 touchdowns
- Jaden Nixon, UCF Knights - 4 touchdowns
- Kaidon Salter, Colorado Buffaloes - 4 touchdowns
- NaQuari Rogers, Utah Utes - 4 touchdowns
The Red Raiders have a chance to let Dickey continue to build upon that lead as they move forward, but it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out given the way there are so many dynamic options on Texas Tech’s offense. Mack Leftwich has a wealth of good options to turn to as he designs the offense. And that’s a good thing.
