Look, I think Salt Lake City, Utah is a beautiful place that is worth visiting and enjoying. But something tells me that Tim Tadlock and the Texas Tech baseball team had exactly zero fun when the Red Raiders hit the road for a series against the Utah Utes this past weekend.
Texas Tech (20-19 overall, 6-12 Big 12) was swept by a pretty bad Utah team (20-15 overall, 9-9 Big 12) and it’s clear that the Red Raiders are one of the absolute worst teams in the Big 12. Tech is well below .500 in Big 12 play on the season so far and it really feels like there’s absolutely no way that the Red Raiders will be able to get back on track at this point.
And really, there was no good game this past weekend for the Red Raiders. The Texas Tech baseball team simply couldn’t do anything well over the weekend.
Texas Tech’s losing streak keeps on building as the Red Raiders drop three straight games in Salt Lake City against the Utah Utes
On Friday, in the first part of the three game disaster, Jackson Burns lasted just 4.1 innings as he allowed seven earned runs. And while he was struggling on the mound, the Red Raiders were struggling at the plate. TTU did get 10 hits, but the Red Raiders weren’t able to get more than three runs on the scoreboard.
In the second game of the series, things unfortunately ended early for Texas Tech as the Red Raiders were run-ruled in just seven innings against Utah. Connor Mohan gave up seven earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched. And again, at the plate, Texas Tech was able to rack up hits, but couldn’t score. And thus, Texas Tech lost 12-2 on Saturday.
Things didn’t exactly go great for the Red Raiders on Sunday either as they fell short, losing 6-3 in what was ultimately the most competitive game of the series.
Texas Tech was swept in Salt Lake City and that sucks. The losing streak is up to five games. The Red Raiders were outscored 28-8 across the three games. It was just a flat out awful weekend for Tadlock and the Red Raiders.
