There’s no way that Tim Tadlock and the Texas Tech Red Raiders aren’t frustrated right now. Just absolutely no way. They’ve got to be furious over the way things shook out against the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth. For the second night in a row, Texas Tech lost a devastating and aggravating match up against TCU.

I mean, I don’t totally know what else to say about this game other than it just was absolutely awful for the Red Raiders. Somehow, some way, Texas Tech managed to waste a 23-hit effort during which the Red Raiders scored nine runs.

And Texas Tech lost despite that sort of offensive output against the Horned Frogs.

To be completely clear, it probably wasn’t ideal that the Red Raiders stranded 16 baserunners against the TCU baseball team. I don’t advise that anyone do that if they’re aiming to win a game.

TCU Horned Frogs walk off Texas Tech after 13 innings to hand Tim Tadlock and the Red Raiders yet another infuriating loss

For so much of this game (really all the way up to the end of things here), it seemed like any time Texas Tech would do something significant, the Horned Frogs would find a meaningful and aggravating way to respond. Texas Tech took a solid 3-0 lead over TCU in the top of the second inning. The Horned Frogs responded by claiming a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

In the top of the third inning, the Red Raiders scored a couple more runs to regain their lead and hold a 5-4 advantage. And then TCU just responded with absolute ease to tie things up in the bottom of the third inning.

This back-and-froth sort of nonsense continued all throughout the game. The Red Raiders scored a couple of runs in the top of the ninth to tie things up at 8-8. And then it took a few more batters to have a chance to give Texas Tech a road win. The Red Raiders scored one run in the top of the 13th inning. Then the Horned Frogs walked the Red Raiders off.

Texas Tech is now sitting at .500 in Big 12 play and the Red Raiders need to find a way to stop losing matchups like this in a hurry.
