The Texas Tech Red Raiders are getting all sorts of big plays from all over the field. Whether it’s offense or defense or special teams, it seems like the Red Raiders are absolutely unstoppable tonight against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions.

It does help that the Golden Lions are outmatched in terms of talent. That’s not something that I want to ignore or overlook. But, I mean, the Red Raiders still deserve a ton of credit for the way they’re performing in their first game of the season. That’s worth noting.

Texas Tech is doing exactly what a ranked FBS team should do against an overwhelmed team from the FCS. This is exactly what should be happening right now.

And it’s so much fun to watch the Red Raiders thriving in every aspect. Including special teams.

In the first quarter, with the Red Raiders already up 7-0 over the Golden Lions, we got to watch Mikal Harrison-Pilot dash down the field, past all of Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s blockers, and right towards the punter for the Golden Lions.

And he blocked the punt with ease.

This is a perfect example of special teams execution. This is the perfect example of dominant athleticism from Mikal Harrison-Pilot. This is exactly what should be happening for the Red Raiders in a game that they are controlling in every single way possible.

Trent Low was able to get a hold of the blocked punt, recovering the ball just 21 yards away from the end zone for the red raiders. And on the very next play, Texas Tech was able to score thanks to a perfect 21-yard pass from Behren Morton to Terrance Carter.

This play went a long way towards stretching Texas Tech’s lead over Arkansas-Pine Bluff early on and it was also a great indicator that the Red Raiders would be able to dominate this game in so many different ways.
