With there being an unexpected and shocking coaching change up in Ann Arbor with Sherrone Moore being out as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, there is a clear and significant ripple effect across the entirety of college football.

Without even getting into any of the shocking nature of the off the field stuff with all of this with everything surrounding accusations towards Moore and also without dipping our toes into the discussions around who will replace Moore as the head coach of the Wolverines, it’s clear that a lot of things are going to change for numerous programs and players.

It’d be safe to go ahead and expect a lot of talent to move out of Ann Arbor in the very near future. Also, it’s absolutely worth noting that the Michigan Wolverines are almost certainly going to lose a significant amount of talent from their incoming recruiting class.

Like the four-star tight end from Montana who chose to leave the Wolverines behind in favor of playing for Texas Tech in 2026.

Following Sherrone Moore’s firing in Ann Arbor, four-star tight end Matt Ludwig decided to ditch Michigan after signing to play for the Wolverines and is now set to join the 2026 Texas Tech Red Raider signing class.

The Red Raiders are getting a fascinating talent with the addition of Ludwig to the 2026 recruiting class. According to his profile over on 247 Sports, Ludwig weighs in at 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, which (at least in theory) makes him a pretty tough matchup for defensive backs if he’s used in the passing game.

With the addition of Ludwig, the Red Raiders now have the No. 17 overall recruiting class in the country before the transfer portal movement even really gets going. McGuire and the Texas Tech football team currently have the top-ranked recruiting class in the Big 12.
