Following Texas Tech’s dominant win over the UCF Knights, the Red Raiders are jumping up a bit in the latest AP Poll top 25 college football rankings. The Red Raiders are moving up in the world and they’re actually sharing their spot with another team.

Right now, as we enter Week 13 of the 2025 college football season, we find the Texas Tech Red Raiders sitting at No. 6 in the AP poll. And that puts the Red Raiders at the same ranking as the Oregon Ducks this week.

To get to this point, in addition to the massive win over Scott Frost and UCF, Joey McGuire and Texas Tech have managed to get wins over the likes of the No. 11 BYU Cougars, No. 13 Utah Utes, and the No. 25 Houston Cougars.

AP Poll college football top 25 rankings, Week 13: Texas Tech Red Raiders tied with Oregon Ducks at No. 6

Here’s what the top 25 rankings look like this week, according to the AP Poll voters:

  • No. 1 - Ohio State Buckeyes
  • No. 2 - Indiana Hoosiers

  • No. 4 - Georgia Bulldogs
  • No. 5 - Ole Miss Rebels
  • No. 6 - Texas Tech Red Raiders
  • No. 6 - Oregon Ducks
  • No. 8 - Oklahoma Sooners
  • No. 9 - Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  • No. 10 - Alabama Crimson Tide

  • No. 22 - North Texas Mean Green
  • No. 23 - Missouri Tigers
  • No. 24 - Tulane Green Wave
  • No. 25 - Houston Cougars

It’s encouraging to see Texas Tech continue to climb. And as long as the Red Raiders keep winning, that should continue happening. There’s obviously one more regular season game left for Texas Tech, but the Red Raiders will also get a chance to take on a team like the BYU Cougars or the Utah Utes once again in the Big 12 championship game.

And should Texas Tech go out and beat BYU or Utah again, then we’re talking about the Red Raiders having an opportunity to move up a bit in the rankings once more. Plus, that’s not even considering any potential losses that might happen with the teams ahead of Texas Tech right now.
