Texas Tech softball isn’t headed home after facing elimination

Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders just went nine innings against the UCLA Bruins and came out on top, despite playing the sort of game that would have typically been something the Bruins would have loved to compete in. Texas Tech won. 8-7. Extra innings. A night game.

The Red Raiders are still in Oklahoma City and they’re looking to keep on winning. Just one day after the bats were silenced against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, Texas Tech came to life and scored seemingly at every necessary point to be able to come out on top against the UCLA Bruins, who boast the most terrifying offense in college softball this season.

The Red Raiders were challenged (especially Texas Tech’s pitching staff). But Glasco was able to use the versatility that NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry bring to the table and take advantage of pitching match ups to give the Red Raiders the best possible chance of outlasting the Bruins.

And somehow, some way, the Red Raiders have won and managed to beat UCLA in nine innings. I’m worn out. That game was exhausting and emotionally draining to try and keep up with. But yet, Texas Tech softball fans are thrilled that the Red Raiders are still alive (as they should be).

Texas Tech softball fans celebrate the Red Raiders outlasted the UCLA Bruins in the Women’s College World Series

Here’s what Texas Tech softball fans have to say as the team managed to survive an extra inning encounter with the Bruins:

The Red Raiders are still fighting. This season isn’t over yet. And it seems like the Texas Tech softball team is going to find ways to completely and totally stress its fans out. But hey, as long as the Red Raiders keep winning, there’s no real complaints to be had, right?

It still kinda feels like Texas Tech hasn’t reached its full potential just yet, but this game was such a blast and is such a moment for this team. The Red Raiders have the opportunity to keep rolling and build some momentum off of this one.

Being able to outlast the UCLA Bruins like that is a difficult thing to do. And Texas Tech should be thrilled that the Red Raiders were able to do just that. Now Texas Tech needs to find a way to keep building off of this and somehow beat the Alabama Crimson Tide twice in two games. No losses allowed at this point.

It’ll likely take a complete game though. Can the bats stay hot and will the pitching quiet the Crimson Tide at the plate? We’ll see. All I know right now is that Texas Tech absolutely earned this win over the Bruins.
