The college softball season is officially here and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are off to a phenomenal start. Really, there’s no better way for Texas Tech to start this season. The Texas Tech softball team is unbeaten. Perfect. No blemishes.

After Sunday’s run-rule, 12-0 win over the Bryant Bulldogs in College Station, the Red Raiders are now 6-0 to get this season started. While that may have been the Red Raiders’ most recent win, it definitely wasn’t Texas Tech’s most notable win of the weekend.

The Red Raiders, while in College Station, managed to hand the No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies a 3-2 loss, which feels like a really solid part of a pretty strong early stretch of games for Texas Tech.

Texas Tech boasts the best record in the Big 12 as the Red Raiders get the 2026 softball season rolling with a perfect 6-0 start

We haven’t gotten to conference play just yet, but it’s already pretty evident that the Red Raiders belong at the top of the Big 12 right now as Texas Tech holds the best overall record in the conference. Here’s what the Big 12 standings look like following the first weekend of the softball season.

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Houston Cougars (4-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • UCF Knights (5-1 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Arizona State Sun Devils (4-1 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Baylor Bears (4-1 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Utah Utes (4-1  overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Arizona Wildcats (3-2 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Iowa State Cyclones (3-2 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls (3-2 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • Kansas Jayhawks (2-3 overall, 0-0 Big 12)
  • BYU Cougars (1-4 overall, 0-0 Big 12)

It’s a little weird seeing that there are only two teams in the Big 12 with perfect records after just one weekend of play, but that’s hardly all that big of a deal. There’s a ton of teams packed into the middle of the conference right now as four teams have just one loss and then three more teams have identical 3-2 records.

Again, it’s early. Very early. It’ll be worth keeping tabs on all of this as we go throughout the season though and there’s no better time to start than right now.
