Texas Tech basketball loses top recruiting target to Big 12 rival

Thursday, the Texas Tech basketball program lost an important recruiting battle when its top high school target not only shunned the Red Raiders but also picked a Big 12 rival. Kingston Flemings, a 5-star point guard had long been on Tech's radar but he has decided to play for the Houston Cougars.

Rated by 247Sports.com as the No. 3 point guard and No. 17 overall player in America for the class of 2025, Flemings had taken an official visit to Lubbock but now he's going to be a player that the Red Raiders have to contend with as an opponent for the next several years.

Texas Tech soccer set for NCAA Tournament

Friday night at 7 p.m. Central, the Texas Tech soccer team will host LSU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. This is the eighth time since 2012 that the Red Raiders have hosted an opening-round game of the NCAA Tournament.

All-time Tech is 1-2 against LSU. The programs have not met since 2021 when they mete in Denton, Texas.

Tech enters the game 14-4-2 overall. Meanwhile, LSU is 9-8-3 on the season. The winner of this game will likely face No. 1 overall seed Duke on the road in the second round.

Texas Tech Lady Raiders to host Washington State on Saturday

Saturday at 6 p.m. Central, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders will host their fourth consecutive game to open the season when Washington State comes to Lubbock. Coming off of a 75-68 victory over New Mexico, the Lady Raiders are undefeated to start the season.

Washington State is 2-1 overall, with an overtime win against Eastern Washington, 83-82, a 71-60 win over Idaho, and a loss to Stanford, 94-65. The Cougars were ranked 24th in the preseason poll so this could be a nice early test for the Lady Raiders.

Texas Tech volleyball to host Senior Day on Saturday

The Texas Tech volleyball team is playing better as of late going 4-2 in its last six matches. Now, the Red Raiders will host Iowa State on Saturday for Senior Day.

Six seniors will be recognized after the match including Elena Leontaridou, Maddie Correa, Mia Wesley, Reagan Leinen, Simone Overbeck, and Emily Merrick.

The Red Raiders are 13-12 overall and 5-8 in Big 12 play. Meanwhile, Iowa State is 9-14 overall and 3-9 in conference action.

On October 18, the Cyclones swept the Red Raiders in Ames. But since then, they are winless meaning the Red Raiders could be catching them at the right time.

Texas Tech cross country to partake in NCAA Regionals

This afternoon, the Texas Tech men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Regionals. Participating in the Mountain Region Race, the Red Raiders will compete in Nevada. The women's 6k race will begin at 1 p.m., while the men's 10k race will start at 2 p.m.

On the men's side, three teams in this region are ranked in the top 10 nationally including No. 1 BYU. The women's draw might be even tougher with four top-10 teams in the field.
