Well, it certainly isn’t ideal that the Texas Tech Red Raiders fell short once again. Once again, in the second instance in the span of two days, the Red Raiders managed to lose against the likes of the TCU Horned Frogs. And as a result of those back-to-back losses against TCU, the Red Raiders are now sitting at .500 when facing a conference opponent.

As a whole, with the game one and game two losses against the Horned Frogs, Texas Tech doesn’t exactly have a ton of momentum right now. At least there’s no positive momentum there. Anything that resembles momentum there is all negative right now.

Big 12 standings update, March 28: Texas Tech drops to .500 in Big 12 play after losing to the TCU Horned Frogs

Let’s take a look at what the entirety of the Big 12 looks like right now:

  • UCF Knights (16-8 overall, 6-1 Big 12)
  • West Virginia Mountaineers (17-5 overall, 5-2 Big 12)
  • Arizona State Sun Devils (20-6 overall, 5-2 Big 12)
  • Kansas Jayhawks (17-10 overall, 5-3 Big 12)
  • Cincinnati Bearcats (20-9 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • Kansas State Wildcats (18-9 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • TCU Horned Frogs (16-10 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders (16-10 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • Utah Utes (14-10 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • Baylor Bears (15-11 overall, 4-4 Big 12)
  • BYU Cougars (13-13 overall, 4-5 Big 12)
  • Oklahoma State Cowboys (17-11 overall, 3-6 Big 12)
  • Arizona Wildcats (9-17 overall, 2-6 Big 12)
  • Houston Cougars (13-13 overall, 1-7 Big 12)

When looking around the conference, UCF managed to hand the Arizona Wildcats an 11-5 beating. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bearcats beat the Jayhawks 5-0, the Oklahoma State Cowboys beat BYU 12 to five, Kansas State managed to hand Utah an 8-5 loss, Arizona State beat West Virginia 14-4, and then Baylor beat Houston 6-2.

It’s been a busy weekend for the Big 12 and this has been a sneaky good and very impressive sort of season from the conference as a whole. It just would be nice if Texas Tech could find a way to avoid getting swept.
