A three game series to start the final weekend of the 2026 regular season gets started on Thursday. It’s an odd weekend arrangement for Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but it’s not the worst thing ever. Especially since the Texas Tech softball team has already won the Big 12 regular season title.

The Red Raiders are able to enter this weekend already knowing that they’ve dominated their conference competition and are looking to further build their resume and momentum as the regular season wraps up.

Everything you need to know as the Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Baylor Bears for Thursday evening’s matchup

Here’s what you need to know for Game 1 between Texas Tech and Baylor:

  • Who: Baylor Bears (27-23 overall, 9-12 Big 12) at Texas Tech Red Raiders (48-4 overall, 19-2 Big 12)
  • When: Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Lubbock, Texas
  • Venue: Tracy Sellers Field
  • TV Channel: ESPN+
  • Live stream: ESPN.com/watch

So, where do things stand as the Red Raiders face off against Baylor? Well, the Texas Tech softball team is on a six game winning streak and happens to be 15-1 at home. It’s hard to say that things could be much better for Texas Tech right now.

As for the Bears, they’re entering this game with three consecutive losses right now after they were swept by the Oklahoma State Cowgirls last weekend.

And it’s not like things are going to get much easier for the Bears this weekend.

With all of the talent that the Red Raiders have on their roster (NiJaree Canady has a 1.38 ERA, Kaitlyn Terry has a .489 batting average and 10 home runs along with a 1.48 ERA) and the way Baylor is struggling, this is a series that won’t be easy for them. Which, for Baylor, isn’t ideal. They need this series. Texas Tech just can’t let them take it though.
