Joey McGuire and the No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders are about to meet up with a very interesting Kansas State Wildcats team. Chris Klieman and his Kansas State football team got the season started by losing three of their first four games.

They’ve since responded by going out and winning three of their last four games. Which, you know, is a pretty impressive thing to accomplish!

Texas Tech, meanwhile, has started off 7-1 and is looking to build on that, especially as the Red Raiders head down the home stretch of the regular season with two quarterbacks suffering various injuries this season.

It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

What is at stake for No. 13 Texas Tech as the Red Raiders go to Kansas State to face the Wildcats?

Well, Texas Tech needs to keep winning if Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders want to make it into the College Football Playoff this season. The Red Raiders also need to keep winning if they want to maintain their pace in the Big 12 standings and to have any sort of shot at making it into the Big 12 championship game this season.

No pressure or anything.

A win would keep Texas Tech trucking along and building momentum in Big 12 play as the Red Raiders will soon enough start preparing for the BYU Cougars to come to town for next weekend’s matchup. And a win will keep Texas Tech right behind the Cougars, giving the Red Raiders a very real shot to get right back into contention for the Big 12 championship game if they can win next week.

So, yeah, this game matters a bit.

Also, it’d be nice for Texas Tech to go ahead and secure an eighth win. The Red Raiders have routinely hit a ceiling over much of the past couple decades. They really haven’t had many instances of getting past eight wins. So let’s secure an eighth win this week and a ninth win next week, shall we?
