Well, last week’s Texas Tech football game didn’t go according to plan. After a road loss for Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders at the hands of the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe, Arizona, TTU is back at home in Lubbock and set to host the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
And Texas Tech really needs a game that will give it a chance to bounce back. Thankfully, this one is certainly one that can do that. As the Red Raiders host the Cowboys, it’s absolutely worth remembering that Oklahoma State is by far the worst team in the Big 12 right now.
There’s a massive difference in these two teams this season, even if Texas Tech isn’t sitting at the very top of the Big 12 at the moment. These two couldn’t be more different this year.
Texas Tech looks to get back on track as Red Raiders welcome Oklahoma State Cowboys to Lubbock
This is a must-win sort of game, even if Texas Tech’s season isn’t technically on the line at this point. But a loss to a one-win conference opponent at home? I mean, that would be devastating in multiple ways. It’d almost certainly knock the Red Raiders into a messy situation for their Big 12 championship aspirations, but it’d also make trying to make the college football playoff into a very tough task.
This is an opportunity to build some momentum before facing Kansas State on the road next weekend and it’s a chance to get Will Hammond more comfortable in this offense. Plus, it’s a chance to show that last week’s loss was a bit of a fluke.
This season, Texas Tech is averaging 43.9 points per game, 517.9 total yards per game, and the Red Raiders’ six wins have all come by at least 24 points. Oklahoma State’s defense is a truly awful mess as they’re giving up 38.4 points per game, 468.9 total yards per game, and they’re on a six-game losing skid.
