It really would have been fun to see Reggie Virgil play in Lubbock for a longer period of time, but the incredibly talented wide receiver who thrived in the MAC with Miami (Ohio) and then played really well in the Big 12 for the Texas Tech Red Raiders is now headed on to the NFL.

Thanks to the Arizona Cardinals, who made the choice to grab Virgil in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, one of the most productive receivers for the 2025 Texas Tech football team will have a shot to continue his football career at the next level.

Virgil was picked up with the No. 143 overall pick and the 6-foot-3, 190 pound wide receiver was incredibly productive for the Red Raiders throughout the season. Virgil managed to catch 57 passes for 705 yards (which averaged out to over a dozen yards per reception) and then six touchdowns.

In addition to his receiving production, Virgil was occasionally used as a rushing threat and with two carries, he managed to pick up 35 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for Mack Leftwich’s offense this past season.

It’s definitely safe to say that Virgil’s one season in Lubbock went well for him (and also Texas Tech’s offense, he was so definitely needed for this team).

During the span of his career, which included three seasons with Miami (Ohio), Virgil caught exactly 100 passes which he turned into 1583 receiving yards and 16 touchdown receptions.

With Arizona picking him, Virgil became the sixth Red Raider to get selected during the 2026 NFL Draft. David Bailey let the way in the opening round and then Jacob Rodriguez, Lee Hunter, Romello Height, and Caleb Douglas all followed.
