We’ve got another Big 12 series to play. There’s the Big 12 tournament after that. And then we’re going to get into the NCAA softball tournament. And yet, it seems unlikely that any Big 12 team will be able to surpass what the Texas Tech Red Raiders have already accomplished when it comes to hitting home runs.

The Red Raiders have managed to hit a total of 113 home runs up to this point in the season. That’s just absurd, to be completely honest about the situation. It’s just absurd. To make things feel even sillier is the fact that the Texas Tech softball team has 31 more home runs than the next closest team in the Big 12.

These power hitting numbers are staggering and they add another layer of context about what the Red Raiders are capable of this year.

Texas Tech has managed to hit 113 home runs and nobody in the Big 12 can get within 30 home runs of the Red Raiders

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders - 113 home runs in 52 games
  • Arizona State Sun Devils - 82 home runs in 51 games
  • Kansas Jayhawks - 78 home runs in 49 games
  • Iowa State Cyclones - 72 home runs in 51 games
  • Houston Cougars - 70 home runs in 51 games
  • Arizona Wildcats - 62 home runs in 47 games
  • UCF Knights - 60 home runs in 51 games
  • Utah Utes - 55 home runs in 52 games
  • BYU Cougars - 53 home runs in 47 games
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls - 49 home runs in 47 games
  • Baylor Bears - 28 home runs in 51 games

This is certainly a number to keep in mind as the Red Raiders get set to face off against the Baylor Bears. Texas Tech has managed to hit 85 more home runs than what the Bears have hit up to this point in the season.

That gap between Texas Tech and Baylor is a greater number of home runs than what we’ve seen from any Big 12 team outside of Lubbock hit this year. So, not only is Texas Tech able to get more hits than anyone else in the conference, but the Red Raiders are also putting the ball on the other side of the fence more often than anyone else in the conference.
