As the college softball season continues on, Friday features another loaded day of Big 12 softball action. And it’s really the start of another busy weekend for the conference as there are five different conference series happening this weekend (and then some non-conference matchups happening as well).
The stakes are going to continue to elevate as we continue on with this season. Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders lead the way for the Big 12, but there are several other teams in the conference that want to make things challenging for Texas Tech.
The Arizona Wildcats, Baylor Bears, Utah Utes, and Kansas Jayhawks have all demonstrated that they can be tough to beat. And though the Red Raiders are the best team in the Big 12, there’s still plenty of opportunities for Texas Tech to slip up if they aren’t careful.
College softball schedule: 5 different Big 12 softball series could make things interesting for the conference after this weekend
Here’s what Friday’s slate of conference games looks like for the Big 12:
- No. 22 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Marist Red Foxes - 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
- Iowa State Cyclones vs. No. 2 Texas Tech Red Raiders - 6 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas
- UCF Knights vs. Houston Cougars - 6 p.m. in Houston, Texas
- No. 21 Oklahoma State Cowgirls vs. Utah Utes - 6 p.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah
- Kansas Jayhawks vs BYU Cougars - 7 p.m. in Provo, Utah
- Baylor vs. No. 14 Arizona Wildcats - 7 p.m. in Tucson, Arizona
- No. 22 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels - 7 p.m. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina
To be completely honest, I don’t really know why Arizona State is playing these non-conference games at this part of the season, but I love that there’s plenty of softball happening today. That’s something to enjoy and celebrate.
