The gap between offenses from Texas Tech and Arizona State is kind of astonishing

Does Arizona State have enough offense to keep up with Texas Tech this weekend? I hope not, truly, but it’s absolutely something that we have to talk about that I feel like is getting missed in some ways. Largely, I suspect people are overlooking the difference in offensive success in both teams because of the reputation that Kenny Dillingham has and the way that Arizona State found success a season ago.

But this year, it’s very clear that Texas Tech’s offense is competing as a bit of an anomaly in the Big 12 when stacked up against other teams. And when measured up against a team like Arizona State, that clearly isn’t as good as it was a season ago, it’s going to provide the Red Raiders with the perfect opportunity to make a statement.

Texas Tech’s offense has been considerably more productive than Arizona State’s offense up to this point in the season

Here’s a few stats that help cement what I’m talking about, starting with Arizona State’ s offense:

  • 26 points per game
  • 395.8 yards per game
  • 202 rushing yards per game
  • 193.8 passing yards per game

No, let’s take a look at that same handful of very straightforward stats from Texas Tech’s offense:

  • 47.5 points per game (1st in Big 12)
  • 558.2 yards per game
  • 232.8 rushing yards per game
  • 325.3 passing yards per game

It’s incredibly impressive to see just how good the Red Raiders have been on that side of the ball this season. Let’s point out how much Texas Tech has been on offense than what we’ve seen from the Sun Devils so far in this season.

  • 21.5 more points per game for Texas Tech
  • 162.4 more yards per game for Texas Tech
  • 30.8 more rushing yards per game more for Texas Tech
  • 131.5 more passing yards per game

Those are some noteworthy numbers, folks. A few more, just for the road? To get started, there’s Texas Tech securing all six wins so far this season by at least 24 points. That’s something that Arizona State certainly isn’t able to claim. The Sun Devils haven’t had anywhere near that sort of success.
