One of the wildest Texas Tech football sagas in recent memory has another update. Monday, On3 Sports projected that former 5-star wide receiver signee Micah Hudson will return to Texas Tech.
This development, which was posted on X, is the latest in the unprecedented saga that has been Hudson's time as a collegiate. Hopefully, it is a sign that we are near a resolution.
Both Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong of On3 are now going on record to predict that a reunion between Hudson and Tech is expected. That's the strongest indication yet that months of rumors in the Texas Tech biosphere are about to be proven true.
Early in the spring semester, it was rumored that Hudson had left the Texas A&M program after he transferred there following his first season in Lubbock. Those rumors went so far as to even suggest that he had a physical altercation with Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. (Again, that is just message board fodder, so it shouldn't be taken as fact.)

Then, not long after that, Red Raider fans began seeing rumors that Hudson was interested in returning to the Red Raiders. What's more, many even claimed to have seen him on campus in March.
Still, at that time, Hudson had not entered the portal. However, around Spring Break, it was confirmed by Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko that Hudson had left the program.
Since then, speculation has been rampant that Hudson would come back to join Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders. However, Wiltfong reported last week that Hudson was scheduled to visit Utah over the weekend. Whether or not that visit actually took place has also been debated online, with some Texas Tech fans claiming that it in fact did not.
There is reason now to believe that Hudson might not have gone to Salt Lake City after all. That's because of the On3 projection that he is going to return to Tech.
Of course, we must take any recruiting tidbit with a grain of salt. That's especially true for this crazy story that has seen the highest-rated high school player to ever sign with Texas Tech spend less than a year on campus before transferring to a hated in-state program, only to leave that program after less than three months.
Still, if two On3 experts are projecting that a reunion between Hudson and Texas Tech will happen, then it is worth paying close attention to. Usually, On3 is locked in, especially when its experts make a prediction like this. Maybe that means we are about to get a happy resolution to one of the most unusual dramas to come out of Texas Tech in many years, which is saying quite a bit.
