In the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, one more Texas Tech Red Raider got the chance to hear his name called with proof that he was headed to the next level of football without any sort of issue. The Philadelphia Eagles made the decision to go out and draft Texas Tech’s Cole Wisniewski.

At 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds, it’s going to be intriguing to see how things work out for him after a really solid final season of college football which he played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Cole Wisniewski has now officially gone from North Dakota State to Texas Tech and a Big 12 title to the NFL

Wisniewski was really productive for the Red Raiders secondary this past season as he managed to record 78 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, and a sack. To go right along with that, Wisniewski also managed to break up six passes, forced a couple of fumbles, and recovered one fumble in 2025.

Wisniewski had a fascinating path to get to this point (like many of the other Red Raiders selected during the 2026 NFL Draft). Wisniewski is from Wisconsin and got his college career started up by playing for the North Dakota State Bison from 2020 to 2024 (though he did miss the entirety of the 2024 season due to a surgery).

After that, he hit the transfer portal and made his way to Lubbock to play for the Red Raiders.

With this selection (and the fact that Wisniewski was the final player from Texas Tech to get selected in the 2026 NFL Draft), the Red Raiders set a program record of nine players drafted. David Bailey was first, Jacob Rodriguez second, Lee Hunter was third, Romello Height fourth, Caleb Douglas was fifth, Reggie Virgil sixth, Skyler Gill-Howard was seventh, Behren Morton eighth, and then Wisniewski was ninth.
