The rest of the Big 12 can’t keep up with Texas Tech softball’s home run pace

Gerry Glasco’s Texas Tech Red Raiders are really good at this whole “hitting home runs” thing. And really, nobody else in the Big 12 is remotely close to what the Texas Tech softball team has been able to accomplish this year.

So far this season, Texas Tech has managed to hammer 104 home runs. The next best team in the Big 12 has managed to hit just 79. Which, to be fair, that’s a lot of home runs. But it just isn’t anywhere near what the Red Raiders have managed to hit this season.

Texas Tech currently stands as the only team in the Big 12 to get past 100 home runs this season.

Texas Tech softball has crushed 104 home runs so far and no Big 12 team is able to come close

Here’s what the leaderboard looks like in the Big 12 (with the Red Raiders very clearly at the top of the conference):

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders - 104 home runs in 48 games
  • Arizona State Sun Devils - 79 home runs in 48 games
  • Kansas Jayhawks - 74 home runs in 46 games
  • Iowa State Cyclones - 68 home runs in 46 games
  • Houston Cougars - 68 home runs in 48 games
  • UCF Knights - 60 home runs in 48 games
  • Arizona Wildcats - 54 home runs in 44 games
  • Utah Utes - 54 home runs in 48 games
  • BYU Cougars - 53 home runs in 44 games
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls - 46 home runs in 43 games
  • Baylor Bears - 28 home runs in 48 games

It is so intriguing to me to see that the Baylor Bears are dead last in this list and it’s because they functionally have one-fourth of the home runs that the Red Raiders have right now.

And also, the difference between the Red Raiders and the Sun Devils (25 home runs) at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively is the same difference between Arizona State and the Arizona Wildcats and Utah Utes who are tied for No. 7 in the Big 12.
