As the Texas Tech Red Raiders continue to wind down the regular season and get set for the upcoming Big 12 softball tournament and the subsequent NCAA softball tournament, there’s a few more games to be played. Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are set to meet up with the Tarleton State Texans on Tuesday night.
There’s not much about this matchup that proves it’s going to be a close contest on Tuesday night. Truly, when you look at the stats and the records and the schedules, there’s not much that indicates how this game could play out in a close fashion.
When you look at batting averages, Texas Tech checks in with a .389 batting average as a team while the Texans have a .320 batting average. Sticking with batting for a moment, the Red Raiders have managed to launch 108 home runs so far this season while Tarleton State has just 42 home runs on the year.
Oh, and Texas Tech has scored 496 runs heading into this game while the Texans have scored 329.

Pair all of that with the fact that the Red Raiders have managed to steal 111 bases this season against the fact that Tarleton State has just 23 stolen bases on the year and it’s more than clear that Texas Tech is a far better team in a number of different ways.
