To be completely fair, I’m not entirely sure if we can call this a “series.” I just don’t think that’s actually the correct term for things here. It’s probably not given the actual history between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Oregon State Beavers.
But, that’s ancient history and not exactly the focus here. What matters is, that for the first time since the 1950’s, we’ll get to see the Texas Tech Red Raiders as well as the Oregon State Beavers sharing one football field in the middle of September.
And that, I think, is kind of a cool thing.
When you consider just about everything that the Oregon State Beavers have gone through over the past few years of conference realignment and their coach leaving for greener pastures and so on and so forth, it’s cool to see Texas Tech facing off against Oregon State. I’m here for it. I, for one, think the Red Raiders would have a lot of fun facing Oregon State on a more regular basis.
But there has quite literally not been any sort of regular basis here. Mostly because the last meeting between Texas Tech and Oregon State happened in the middle of the past century.
2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face Oregon State?
There is certainly a great chance that you, my friend and dear member of the audience, didn’t actually ever get to see Oregon State and Texas Tech face off. There’s a good chance that game didn’t happen during your lifetime.
So now, you get to witness a revival of that, uh, series. I don’t know exactly what to call it, so I’m just going to focus on the fact that we get to watch Texas Tech take on a team it hasn’t faced except outside of the 1959 season. And the Red Raiders will get that matchup with Oregon State on September 13 at 2:30 p.m. CT
