Texas Tech football fans can breathe a sigh of relief. That's because the nation's top 2027 recruit is staying true to his commitment to the Red Raiders.
Despite a heavy push from LSU in recent weeks, Cedar Hill, Texas, product Jalen Brewster has shut down his recruitment according to Steve Wiltfong of On3. Though this news is not surprising, it is a welcome development for Red Raiders everywhere.
Brewster has been committed to Tech for nearly a year. But that hasn't kept big-time programs from trying to flip him. It's easy to see why.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle is one of the most coveted recruits to come out of Texas in quite some time. Rated a 5-star-plus recruit by Rivals.com, he's the top high school player in America according to both Rivals and ESPN.com.

Brewster has an offer from just about every major program in the nation. In addition to Tech and LSU, he's been offered by Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Florida, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, and Alabama.
New, despite the fact that he's transferred from Cedar Hill to Buford, Georgia, for his senior season of high school football, he's remaining loyal to Tech.
Texas Tech is getting a superstar in Brewster
Tech has never had a high school player of this pedigree sign with the program, even in the wake of the recent wave of five-star commitments the program has earned in recent years. Brewster is on a different level.
Cody Bellaire of Rivals.com has the following scouting report on Brewster: "Uber-athletic defensive line prospect with true game-wrecking ability. Measured in at around 6-foot-3, 300 pounds prior to his junior season. Carries his weight exceptionally well with a dense build. Tests as an elite athlete in the combine setting, easily cracking 5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Carries that athleticism over to the field, where he has consistent flashes of dominance on Friday nights.
"Lines up all over the defensive line for Cedar Hill (Texas) High while facing top competition. A dangerous pass rusher from any spot. Combines explosive get-off with the movement skills of a much smaller player, carrying elite testing numbers directly onto the field. Consistently collapses pockets and disrupts plays before they develop. Has legitimate game-wrecking moments on film. The quickness to dart into the backfield and the speed to hunt down ball carriers is eye-popping."
Brewster should slot into the Texas Tech defense right away in 2027. This year, the program is set to see both starting defensive tackles A.J. Holmes Jr. and Mateen Ibirogba exhaust their eligibility.
Therefore, Brewster will be asked to solidify the middle of the Red Raider defensive front as soon as he steps on campus. That's a high expectation, but one that a player of his caliber can live up to.
