Because of where they stand right now and the teams that they’ve lost to, the TCU Horned Frogs are going to have a hard time getting right back into the Big 12 championship race. It’s not impossible and they’re going to need a ton of weird things to happen to shake things up at the top with the teams ahead of them.

But one thing that TCU will definitely need to have happen is for the Horned Frogs to keep winning games. And TCU will have a shot for that to happen as they face off against a West Virginia Mountaineers team that is struggling this year.

How does this TCU vs West Virginia matchup impact Texas Tech? Does it even remotely impact Texas Tech?

To be completely honest, the impact on Texas Tech and the Red Raiders’ championship hopes from this specific game is going to be pretty minimal. The Horned Frogs are 5-2 overall, but they’re just 2-2 in Big 12 play. And then there’s West Virginia, who is 0-4 against conference teams and last in the Big 12 standings right now.

Texas Tech also won’t get to play TCU at any point this season unless something really weird happens to match these two up in the conference title game. As for the West Virginia Mountaineers? Well, Tech will get a shot at them later this season, but it’ll be towards the end of the season.

It really doesn’t matter much to Texas Tech’s Big 12 championship ambitions as to which of these two teams win in this particular game.

Expect the Horned Frogs to put some points on the board in this game. West Virginia doesn’t exactly have a great or robust defense and the Horned Frogs offense has been very proficient in scoring (especially through the air). And from the outside looking in, that might be fun to keep up with.
