Folks, things sure got interesting between two of the Big Ten’s new programs from out on the West Coast during the WCWS. In what had been a low scoring game with plenty of great pitching and excellent fielding, both the UCLA Bruins and Oregon Ducks seemed to have very realistic shots at finding a way to win this game.

Both of these teams looked excellent and the Ducks did a great job of making things difficult for the UCLA Bruins.

However, UCLA managed to find a rather exciting and flat out fun way to secure a win during the 2025 Women’s College World Series. After the game got tied up in slightly controversial circumstances, the Bruins took matters into their own hands and they sure did put the game away in a hurry.

With two outs and a tie game in the bottom of the 7th inning for UCLA, the Bruins managed to launch a two home run over the fence to secure a win and advance on to the winners’ bracket (which is a far cozier bracket to be in as opposed to the anxiety-inducing elimination bracket).

But, since UCLA didn’t go to the elimination’ bracket, that means that the Bruins sent the Oregon Ducks straight on over there.

2025 Women’s College World Series bracket: How does the WCWS bracket look after UCLA took down the Oregon Ducks?

And here is how that plays out for the Ducks.

The Ducks will get to take on an Ole Miss Rebels team that’s had an abundance of momentum all throughout this postseason run (up until now, that is). The loser of that particular matchup will no longer get to compete in the Women’s College World Series for this season.

On the other hand, if you win through that challenging lifestyle, you become a legend, I think.

As for the UCLA Bruins, the team that ended up sending Oregon to the elimination bracket? Well, they’ll be moving on into the winners’ bracket, remember? And in that bracket, they’ll face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
