The Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team is extending its lead over the rest of the Big 12 as it just steamrolled right over the ACU Wildcats. And if you were wondering about it, yes, Texas Tech was certainly the juggernaut that it has wanted to be in this game. The Red Raiders thrived in this matchup.
Which isn't shocking! The talent gap between Texas Tech and ACU is a gulf! It's massive.
With the 24-0 win over Abilene Christian University, Texas Tech now holds a .944 winning percentage and is clearly ready to start facing Big 12 competition. Or just tougher competition in general. So far, outside of one loss, Texas Tech has been phenomenal and this win is just another really solid example of exactly that for the Red Raiders.Â
Big 12 standings, records update after Texas Tech’s incredibly lopsided 24-run explosive effort against Abilene Christian
Here’s what the Big 12 looks like right now. So far, there’s nobody in the Big 12 that is capable of matching Texas Tech’s 0.944 percent winning percentage.Â

It’s worth remembering that conference play hasn’t started, so these Big 12 standings are purely based on what we have in the form of overall win-loss records and what those win percentages are calculating out as. And so far, with that being the benchmark that we can use, Texas Tech is considerably better than just about the rest of this conference.
There is a blemish on the Red Raiders’ resume, but that’s not the end of the world. It will be worth keeping an eye on what some of the other teams in the Big 12 are capable of, like the UCF knights and Arizona State Sun Devils. Both of those teams are pretty interesting so far.
