It was pretty ugly. Pretty full of mistakes. Pretty dreadful. Maybe one of the most revolting games of the season. And it ended with the Texas A&M Aggies getting eliminated on their home field. The Miami Hurricanes (in sluggish, ugly fashion) managed to go into College Station, Texas and get a 7-point win over the Aggies.
Which, you know, if you just examined the margin of victory, that’s not a big deal.
That’s not alarming at all. That’s not an indicator that bizarre and painful football took place today in College Station. Honestly, if you’d told me before the game that Miami was going to be able to win by seven points, I would have asked if both teams had scored into the 30’s.
I wouldn’t have expected a grand total of *checks notes* 13 points to be scored between the Hurricanes and the Aggies. Nothing I’ve seen out of either team this season indicated that that would have happened today.
And yet, we were all given the opportunity to watch that mess of a game.
College Football Playoff bracket update: What does the bracket look like with Miami eliminating Texas A&M?
278 total yards for Miami. 326 total yards for Texas A&M. Four turnovers between the two teams. A combined 11-for-30 on third down conversions from the Aggies and Hurricanes. Basically no offense, no sustained drives, nothing exciting.
Good defense though! A general lack of penalties.
And now, here’s what the bracket looks like following Miami kicking the Aggies out of the College Football Playoffs:

Miami is now set to meet up with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on December 31. Which, maybe that game will be more pleasant to watch than what we got out of Miami’s opening round win?
The winner of the Cotton Bowl will advance on to face the winner of the Sugar Bowl (which will be between Georgia and the winner of the opening round matchup with Tulane and Ole Miss).
