With Ole Miss crushing Tulane, here’s how the 2025 CFP bracket has shifted

The Tulane Green Wave looked completely and totally lost when facing the Ole Miss Rebels. That statement was true about Tulane’s trip to Oxford when Lane Kiffin was the coach at Ole Miss back in late September. It was true once again when the Rebels hosted the Green Wave with Pete Golding now the new head coach for Ole Miss during the opening round of the College Football Playoff.

Whether it was the 45-10 loss on September 22, 2025 or it was the 41-10 loss on December 20, 2025, the Tulane Green Wave just simply did not match up effectively against the Ole Miss Rebels.

And to be completely honest, it doesn’t matter what the reason was. Tulane just simply couldn’t keep up with the Rebels. I imagine that has to be incredibly frustrating for fans of the Green Wave who were hoping that somehow, some way Tulane would get a bit of revenge for that early season loss in this rematch.

It just didn’t happen.

What does the College Football Playoff bracket look like after Ole Miss crushed Tulane?

Jake Retzlaff threw for an impressive 306 yards. The Green Wave were able to move up and down the field. But three turnovers and going 0-for-4 on fourth down attempts kind of ended up giving the Rebels more than what they needed to secure this dominant win over Tulane.

That crushing win over Tulane will move Ole Miss on to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl (hey look, another rematch!) on New Year’s Day.

It will be intriguing to see how Golding and the Rebels fare in that particular rematch. There was a lot of emotion that fed into this particular game with Lane Kiffin leaving in the manner that he did (and also possibly the way that Jon Sumrall also chose to take another gig elsewhere).

As for how this impacts Texas Tech? Well, that’s hard to answer given where the Red Raiders are in the bracket and where the Rebels are.

The only time in which Ole Miss and the Texas Tech Red Raiders might meet up would be in the national championship game, but there’s a lot of football to be played between now and then. We’ll see how that shakes out.
