Week 1: Texas Tech vs. Central Arkansas (Lubbock, Texas)

Favorite: no official lines for this game are on the web yet, but Tech is the clear favorite by several scores.

Storyline: football season openers in Lubbock are always well attended, but this particular game will break all kinds of records thanks to sold-out season tickets and the best student section in the Big 12 showing up in droves to support Kliff Kingsbury and their Red Raiders. RAIDER-POWER will once again rock The Jones and overpower one of the biggest video boards in college football.

MVP: Davis Webb will carry his dominate spring performance (13 TDs, 0 INTs) into this game and throw five touchdown passes in the first half, giving true freshman Patrick Mahomes a chance to stretch his legs early in the 3rd quarter and close out a massive offensive showing.

Score: the defense may struggle in their first game with mostly new starters along the line of scrimmage and in the secondary, but Webb and the offense puts it out of reach early. Texas Tech 60, Central Arkansas 28.

Record: 1-0
