3. Kevin Curtis (1998-2001)

Former standout defensive back and current defensive backs coach for Texas Tech Kevin Curtis was one of the most effective tacklers in recent Tech history.

The Lubbock, Texas native who attended Lubbock Coronado High School had four impressive years on the South Plains, but arguably his best was in 1999 when he racked up 153 total tackles which led the conference that year. Curtis ended his career with 10 interceptions and was a consistent pain to deal with for opposing offensive coordinators.

He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL draft by the San Fransisco 49ers. He also played for the Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans during his five year NFL career.
