5. Safety
Had the starters stayed healthy, safety would not have been the liability it turned into down the stretch. True freshmen Derrick Dixon and Jalen Barnes stepped up to make some big plays at times, but throwing out young guys like that against Big 12 offenses is a bit like throwing sheep to wolves.
On the bright side, Keenon Ward and J.J. Gaines combined to force four turnovers, Derrick Dixon helped hold down Baylor’s big-play passing attack in the season finale, and everyone is coming back next year.
