No. 27 — Adell Duckett (Defensive End 2001-2004):

Finishing his career second on the Texas Tech career sack list with 28, Adell Duckett cemented his legacy as one of the best pass rushers to dawn the scarlet and black. His 14 sacks in 2003 stand as the second-highest single-season sack total in program history.

From Mineral Well, TX, Duckett was a three-time All Big 12 selection whose agility was helped by his career as a high school tight end. He also played basketball in high school and was named All-State in football his senior season.

Lightly recruited out of high school, Duckett caught the eye of Stephenville, TX head coach Art Briles when Duckett’s Mineral Wells squad took on Briles’ Yellow Jackets. Briles was later hired to be an assistant coach at Texas Tech and he alerted the Red Raider coaches to the under-the-radar recruit, whose only other offers were from New Mexico and Nevada.
