Matthew Temple – Forward/Center

Desperately in need of big men, Texas Tech is optimistic that walk-on Matthew Temple from Wichita Falls, Texas can provide depth in the paint.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound post player has drawn rave reviews from his teammates and coaches for his work during preseason camp. Temple is more talented than the average walk-on and he will most certainly see action for Texas Tech this year.

Too often last season, Texas Tech found itself in trouble when starting center Norense Odiase got into foul trouble. Without another big body to bang against other team’s post players in the paint, Texas Tech was often out muscled on the boards and at the rim.

Tubby Smith believes that Temple can be a solution to that problem with his motor and size.
