Starter: Aaron Hunt
The starting rush end on the Texas Tech all-time roster is the programs’ all-time leader in sacks. Aaron Hunt ended his career with 34 sacks and 46 ½ tackles for loss.
The Denison, TX native also had seasons of 71, 85 and 103 tackles as a Red Raider. Hunt was named first-team all-Big 12 and third-team all-American as a junior in 2001.
After his collegiate career, Hunt had a successful professional football career. Hunt was a star in the Canadian Football League being named an all-star in 2008 and 2011. He was also named a CFL West All-Star five times in his career.
Backup: Brandon Williams
Out of Ft. Worth, TX, Williams was the pass-rushing force on the 2008 Texas Tech team that reached No. 2 in the national polls late in the season. Despite leaving for the NFL after his junior year, Williams is fourth in school history with 22.5 sacks. His 13.0 sacks in Texas Tech’s memorable 2008 season are tied for the third best single season total in school history.
