No. 9 – Kickoff Return TD vs. Baylor

In its annual showdown with Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Dallas in 2012, Texas Tech led No. 24 Baylor 24-21 with just under five minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. After scoring a touchdown, Baylor would make the mistake that so many teams made throughout Grant’s career; they kicked the ball to him.

Grant’s return put Texas Tech up 31-21 but unfortunately Texas Tech would fall by a touchdown in overtime. However, Jakeem Grant’s kickoff return was an amazing play showcasing his blinding speed.

As Grant breaks through the initial wave of defenders, three other Bears have the angle on him (though one is the kicker so that doesn’t really count). Watch how much faster Grant is than the Baylor cover team, bowing right past the pursuing defenders as if they were wearing weighted shoes.

Grant’s kickoff return ability made every kickoff entertaining and a can’t-miss event, which is good because with the poor state of the defenses Texas Tech has fielded over the past 4 years there were plenty of returns to be seen.
