No. 14 – vs. Texas A&M 1965

The 14th greatest game in Texas Tech history featured one of the most miraculous endings ever seen by Red Raider fans.

After falling behind 10-0, Texas Tech took a 13-10 lead with just three minutes to play in the 4th quarter on a Mike Leinert touchdown run. But Texas A&M regained the lead on a 40-yard touchdown pass with just 1:38 to play.

However, the Texas Tech – Texas A&M rivalry has been chalked full of wild occurrences and perhaps none were more stunning that what happened at the end of this game.

With under a minute to play, Texas Tech completed a third-down pass to Jerry Shipley who then lateraled the ball to Red Raider legend Donny Anderson who scampered into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

This miraculous ending would be the first legendary moment in what would become one of the most intense and unpredictable rivalries in college football.
