No. 1 Little People Big World

The defining play of the 2015 season capped the biggest win of the Kliff Kingsbury era thus far at Texas Tech.

With Texas Tech clinging to a three-point lead late in the 4th-quarter against Texas, hoping for the program’s first win in Austin since 1997, Kingsbury called on Jakeem Grant to deliver. The subsequent trick play called “Little People Big World” will forever be one of the most memorable plays in Red Raider football history.

Throughout his career, people criticized Grant for his small stature but that is was what made this play work. Grant crouched behind the Texas Tech offensive line, took the handoff from Pat Mahomes and stood in place as Mahomes and running back Justin Stockton carried out a fake around the right side of the line.

Grant then sprung lose around the left side of the line and burst into the end zone for the touchdown.

Texas Tech was able to nurse home a 3-point victory to end its 6-game losing streak to the Longhorns. And the play designed only for the most diminutive of players made a legend out of Jakeem Grant; the smallest big-time receiver in Texas Tech history.
