No. 2 Jakeem Grant catch and run vs. Oklahoma State

The No. 2 play of 2015 was the most electrifying play of Jakeem Grant’s career, which means it was quite the play.

The first quarter of Texas Tech’s 2015 game against Oklahoma State is arguably the best showcase of Grant’s skills in one game. And with Texas Tech up 7-0 and backed up to its own 3-yard line, Grant made a 90-yard catch and run that might be the singular play best showcasing what Jakeem Grant can do as a football player.

After catching a two-yard out at the five-yard-line, Grant went to work putting on a performance that won’t soon be forgotten.

What Grant did on the play is far too much to describe in words so just enjoy the footage yourself.

Ironically, on what was Grant’s best collegiate play (not most important but best) he was caught from behind for one of the few times in his career. But during the play, Grant made six different Oklahoma State players miss him completely (almost none of them were even able to put a finger on the diminutive receiver).

After the game, Texas Tech football staff members reviewed the film and determined that Grant ran a total of 156 yards on the play explaining why he ran out of gas at the end of the run.

The run after the catch is a microcosm of what Grant is all about as a football player. Simply putting the ball in his hands to see what he could do was one of Texas Tech’s best plays over the past four seasons. Never was it a better idea than it was on this play.
